Yeap, Joshie got stuck underneath the sofa. I was reading newspaper on the sofa when I had to go to the toilet to pee. The little cheeky was playing with his toys in the living room. However, when I got out from the toilet, he was nowhere to be seen. OK, I thought, maybe he's at the window area, his favourite spot as he loves to look at the cars down at the road. But nope, I didn't see him there. I got a little worried and then heard his little voice from below the sofa. Got a shock when I bend down and saw him deep inside.............he was whinning coz he was stuck! Oh no, I panicked a little and got down on my knees and started to pull him out slowly. Thank God it wasn't that difficult and the minute he was out, he scooted somewhere else to play!
And...................hubby even asked me why didn't I take a picture first before helping him out!!!!!!!!

Playing in the cabinet?
Joshie is getting very good at opening cabinet doors. Few days ago, I was washing his porridge bowl and as usual, he was hovering around in the kitchen. He stood up and tried to pry open the cabinet doors. After a few attempts, he succeeded and I had a good laugh when I saw him inside. Rushed to get my camera and luckily he remained inside long enough for me to snap a picture.....hahahaha.

"Mummy needs a hug"
Yesterday morning, when I was giving Joshie his bath, he decided that I needed a hug! Oh, how thoughtful of him. So he stood up and threw his wet, soapy body against my clean, dry clothes! Aawwww, isn't that so sweet of him???

Joshie's latest way of moving around the house
Can someone please tell me the "name" for this movement? I know babies glide, crawl, cruise, walk etc but what is this?

Joshua @ 10 months
The cheeky boy turned 10 months last Thursday. This month, he has been babbling a lot. We don't understand a word but he seems very happy talking to himself =) Has added a lot of "new words" to his vocabulary as well.
Not only does he know how to say "bye bye" now, he also knows "hi". In the picture above, he was lifting his hand up to say "hi" =). Of course he doesn't do it every single time we prompt him, but he can do it most of the time. And then we would praise him sky-high =P
He has been learning how to open doors and cabinets. If the room door is not firmly shut, he would use his hand and open the door so that he can go outside. He also tries opening the cabinets in the kitchen. My my, I have to be careful with the plates and bowls and watch him like a hawk already.
Recently, he has been moving around in a new position. His knees are off the ground and he uses his hands and feet to move. Just like Spiderman!
In terms of eating, he is beginning to be choosy. Don't really like porridge anymore, but prefers western food like pasta and baked fish. Still loves his fruits, I am glad for that. And he loves bread too. Anytime he is fussy/choosy, he will instantly be all smiles again when he is given bread. I have also been giving him more chunky food, still soft food but not so mashed up anymore. And when I give him soft fruits like kiwi fruit, papaya, dragon fruit and rockmelon, I usually slice the fruits and feed him, since he has 2 upper and 2 lower teeth to bite. Of course I have to control the portion he bites coz this greedy little fella always wants to have a big, big bite.
His favourite game is "peeka-boo". He would use the curtains to hide himself and slowly push the curtains away and give us a cheeky smile. He does that several times a day.

Embarassed
We were at the ION Orchard for dinner yesterday. Wanted to eat at Canton-I but it will only be opened on Thursday so we adjourned to Taste Paradise, the next most convenient restaurant. We were on level 4 and were not willing to brave the crowd to go down to levels B3 and B4 where most of the other restaurants are.
Taste Paradise is a high end restaurant. The food was nice but it was pricey too.
OK, back to my topic. We were happily eating when the little boy decided to release some of his pent up energy. So he screamed. Yes, he screamed. I am not kidding you. It was a happy, ear-piercing scream. The hubs and I felt like looking for a hole to hide. But the hubs had to give the waiters/waitresses and other customers apologetic looks and I quickly stuffed food into his little mouth and told him not to scream anymore. But obviously, he didn't listen. And screamed again!
So how many times do you think he screamed?
I am not very sure. Maybe 4-5 in total. And each time it happened, we both felt like hiding our heads! The hubs even abandoned his dinner and sat right next to Joshie, entertaining him and talking to him.
So how do you train your 10 month old child not to scream in public? Tips please.

Our Sundays
Our Sundays are a tad quiet here. Joshie would be experiencing a noisy, rowdy Sunday if we were back home in KL. Church takes up half of our Sunday and is the highlight of the day. Hubby and I used to teach Sunday School for 3 years and we'd look forward to seeing the kids every week.
However, here in Singapore, we have not really settled down in the church. Actually one of the main things we miss about KL is our church. If we were in KL, Joshie would be "bullied" by all these kor kor and jie jie, just like how we (especially hubby) used to "bully" them. Hahaha....

To the parents of these lovelies, if you are reading this, we miss all of you (especially your kids, haha, i am being truthful here). These 6 kids are just a small percentage of the kids that we missed. =) Don't have pictures of the rest on my laptop, so to the other parents, sorry yeah, we do miss your kids too..........Andrea, Alex, Josiah, Joel, Jia Ying, Jeremy, Hans, Ashley, Michael, Esther, Eunice etc etc.....the list is just too long.

Joshua bit me!!!!!!!!!!!!
The family in All Blacks.
Six years ago, the hubs (then boyfriend) and I watched the All Blacks rugby match in Melbourne. And when we went to New Zealand for a holiday just before our convocation, he bought an All Blacks jersey.
And five years later, I purchased an All Blacks t-shirt for myself and my little boy, who was then happily swimming inside my tummy.
So, last Saturday, the little boy managed to fit into his t-shirt. Hubby and I followed suit =) Since there was no one to snap a family picture for us, we'd just have to be content with separate pictures.
Where is Joshie?
I usually let Joshie play in the living room when I need to cook. I'd close all the room and toilet doors. Then I'll switch on the TV and put lots and lots of toys in front of him. That can keep him entertained for at least 15-20 minutes. However, last Thursday, as I came out to check on him, he was nowhere to be found.
Where was he?????
Where????
Luckily, the house is small and I found him instantly.
The little cheeky had opened the sliding door to the toilet................
Chewing on his spoon inside the shower area. At least he was smart enough not to smash his little fingers. See where his hand is.

Joshie has been "talking" for a while already by the time I took this video, so his voice was rather hoarse already.......haha

I cut my baby's hair
Or maybe I should use the word "trim". Joshie's hair has been quite messy, especially the fringe so last Wednesday, I fished out the baby scissors and trimmed it. It wasn't easy as he was always moving around. I ditched using the comb in the end coz by the time I combed his hair, he would have moved. So I quickly cut whenever I got the opportunity...=)
He was in a good mood here, having taken an 80 minute nap. He rarely sleeps this long nowadays.

My baby can stand unaided.......
but for a few seconds only......haha.
I am really glad that I managed to snap this picture before he sat down. On a few occassions, he had already sat down or held on to something by the time I grabbed my camera.
So looks like he will be able to stand unaided soon and proceed to taking his first few steps by his first birthday.

"Whatcha looking at, Daddy?"
Pasta with vege sauce for babies
Here's another baby recipe which I like. Pasta with vegetable sauce.
Firstly, steam the sliced carrots and chopped cauliflowers till tender. While the vegetables are in the steamer, saute the chopped tomatoes in butter for 2-3 minutes. Add grated cheese. Mix the tomato cheese sauce with the vegetables and stir in the pre-cooked pasta. Yum yum =P

Our new carrier
After much thought and consideration, we finally purchased the Ergo baby carrier. It's $176 after discount, including delivery charge.
Our review: Very comfortable for baby. Material is soft and not too hot. Good for parents too. At least the weight is distributed evenly on the shoulders unlike the sling.

My plan failed! Miserably.......
Joshie loves to pick things/dirt up from the floor and put it in his mouth. No matter how often I mop the floor, there's bound to be some dirt anyway.........so I thought I'd teach him a lesson! I THOUGHT!
I decided to buy some bitter gourd, cut it into tiny tiny pieces (resembles dirt on the floor) and put the pieces on the floor. So I went to the market, bought a bitter gourd, came back and cut out 10 extremely tiny pieces and scattered them on the kitchen and living room floor. So when Joshie woke up from his nap, I put him on the floor, and he started crawling. He came upon the first tiny piece. As usual, he picked it up with his little fingers and put it into his mouth. I was staring at him non-stop. His facial expression changed a little but then, he continued chewing. Chew, chew, chew........as though it was something tasty! I was surprised and decided to try one myself. So, I picked up the next tiny piece and put it into my mouth. OMG, it was so bitter! I quickly drank some water to wash down the bitterness. And all this while, the little cheeky ate his first tiny piece and already put a 2nd piece into his little mouth. Plan failed!
This morning, after he had his oatmeal cereal, I cut more bittergourd and placed it on his high chair tray. I wanted to test him again......
"Hmnn, what's this tiny greenish stuff? Lemme pick it up and taste it"
And so, as you can see, Joshie was enjoying the bittergourd pieces............hubby said that we should be pleased that he is such a health conscious baby! =)

Baby carrier
I am going to buy a baby carrier. BUT, which one to buy? It's tough going out with Joshie alone as he doesn't want to sit in the stroller. I have been wearing him in a sling but now, he loves to bounce, bounce and bounce! As a result, his butt would almost always slip out from the sling!!!
Am thinking of the Combi baby carrier........anyone got any suggestions?
Crossed out Baby Bjorn coz it's too expensive and anyway, the max weight is only 11 kg. Joshie is already close to 10kg!
