Hehe, what do you think of Joshie's hairstyle? Cool eh? Maybe I should buy baby hair gel and style his hair when we go "kai-kai".
Daddy was busy styling Joshie's hair during their shower time. Nowadays, hubby bathes his little cheeky quite often and they both have lots of fun playing with water together.

Bad mummy
No matter how I scold and say "No" to Joshie, he would always end up playing with the kitchen utensils, pots and pans. If I beat his hand gently, he might either continue playing or hug my legs and cry. Sometimes when I am really busy, I just close one eye and let him play. If not, I won't be able to prepare our meals.
This is what happened last week. He opened the kitchen drawer and played with this pair of tongs. And I don't know how he did it, but the tongs ended up like this:

I just had to take a picture before removing the tongs from his neck. Bad mummy!

Banana sandwich for breakfast
I bought some pisang raja from Tekka wet market last Friday. My mom used to steam the bananas for my brother and I and so I decided to do the same for Joshie. I don't know if you can steam other types of bananas.
On Sunday morning, I decided to fix banana sandwich for Joshie's breakfast. Toasted half a slice of white bread, cut it into three pieces and wrapped it round half a steam banana which I separated into three pieces as well.

Joshua at 12.75 months
Brought him to the paed for his jab. According to the Immunisation Schedule, he is due for the MMR & Varicella #1 jab at 12 months. But the paed said that he wanted to delay that jab till Joshie is 15 months. So Joshie was given the Pneumococcal #4, which according to the schedule is to be given at 15 months. He only cried a bit and stopped right after Mummy carried him. =) Doctor said this jab is usually very painful and most babies would be crying their lungs out.
At 12.75 months, Joshie weighs 12 kg, is 85cm tall and has a head circumference of 47.7 cm. He has grown quite a fair bit during the last 3 months. His height shot up by 9.5cm and weight by about 2kg! What to do, it's in his genes since Mummy&Daddy are "giants"...=P

Pasta with Philadelphia Tomato Sauce
Cooked this a couple of days ago for Joshie and he loves it. The sauce looks whitish because of the cream cheese. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
1/2 onion, chopped finely
2 tablespoons of celery, chopped finely
1 clove garlic
80-100g beef, minced (i blended my beef in the food processor)
1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 medium tomatoes, skinned, seeded and chopped
1 tbsp tomato puree/ketchup
a pinch of mixed herbs
2 tbsp Philadephia cream cheese
1-2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
6 tbsps cooked pasta
Method:
Saute the onion and garlic in oil until softened. Add in celery, followed by the beef. Stir fry until beef is nearly cooked then add tomatoes, tomato puree, herbs and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the cream cheese and grated parmesan. Pour the sauce over the cooked pasta.
This makes 3 portions of pasta for Joshie. I would freeze it when it has cooled down.

A chef in the making?
Joshie's favourite play area - the kitchen! I wonder why he prefers the hot, steamy kitchen as compared to the cool, comfortable living room. Recently, he has been opening kitchen cabinets and dragging pots, pans, plates, bowls and cutleries out. I have heart stopping moments each time he touches a breakable plate/bowl. So yesterday, I headed to Takashimaya to buy child safety locks but alas, the little cheeky pulled them out this morning! So what to do now? You tell me lar.
Anyway, here are 2 pictures just for laughs.

Zucchini muffins
Made a batch of zucchini muffin for Joshie today. They taste really good, even I like them and gobbled half a muffin......hehe, that explains why one of the muffins looks distorted.
Here's the recipe, for those who are interested:
1 small onion, chopped
1.5 cups grated zucchini
0.5 cups grated carrots (can also use pumpkin)
0.25 cups milk

3 eggs
0.5 cups self raising flour
1 tsp each of rosemary, basil and oregano (i used 3 tsp of mixed herbs)
0.25 cups cooked ham (i used cooked chicken instead) - this is optional
Mix all the ingredients and bake in an oven at 180C for 20 minutes.
Joshie loves his zucchini muffins =)

My little boy, a copycat
Yeap, he is already a copycat at 12.5 months old.
Whenever he does something naughty or go near or touch something he is not supposed to, I would usually say "no" very sternly to him. Until a week plus ago, I did not realize that I have been wagging my forefinger when I reprimand him. It was really hilarious to see him wagging his forefinger back at me last week. Since then, he has been wagging his forefinger most of the time when I say "no" to him.

Meatloaf
Made some meatloaf for Joshie a week ago and he loves it. It was a bit of a hassle grating the onions and carrots but luckily the hubs helped me. =) The meatloaf turned out to be very tasty and even my fussy hubby loved it and asked me to prepare meat loaf for our own dinner as well!

KL
We were back in KL for a good 4 days. Ate all my favourite food and ended up putting on more weight! And I am now indulging in Ben & Jerry ice cream. Gosh! Nevermind, I plan to eat only vege and steam fish tonight =P
KL was tiring mainly because the little cheeky was having a gala time walking around and climbing up and down the staircase. And we don't live in a double storey house. There are 5 floors altogether, with only about 2 rooms on each floor. So you can imagine how many flights of staircase we have. I am really glad I live in a 2-bedder in Singapore. Otherwise I can't imagine taking care of the little cheeky all alone without a maid. Think I'd have gone mad! Hahaha

Shopping with a baby who refuses to sit in the stroller
It has always been difficult to get Joshie to sit happily in his stroller. Even as a newborn, he would whimper and cry till we have no choice but to carry him. So you can imagine how difficult it is for me to go out with him alone. Thank God we have a car here in Singapore, or else I can't imagine myself taking public transport with a baby in the carrier.
When he was younger (before 8 months old), he would at least sit in the stroller for at least a good 30 minutes before screaming his lungs out. But after he started cruising and now walking, he would protest the minute we strap him in. I have even tried ignoring his cries and continue pushing him in the stroller but that does not work. He is very determined and would not give up.
So how do I shop for clothes when I am out with him alone? I remember several months back, when he was a 7 month old, I needed to get some night wear from La Senza. I couldn't squeeze the stroller into the fitting room, so I chose the furthest room and parked the stroller right in front of the door while I quickly tried my clothes. Luckily no one caught a glimpse =P.
And just today, we were out shopping at Ion Orchard. I think we went in to 4 shops and I tried a total of at least 10 pieces of clothing. Now that he can walk, he actually walked out of the 2 curtain-covered fitting rooms when I was trying on my clothes. And yours truly had to hurriedly clothe herself and go running after him. AND let me tell you what happened at our final stop...........I had taken of my T-shirts and shorts and was about to try on the final piece of clothing. This little cheeky pushed the door wide open (the latch was a bit shaky so I guess with a bit of force you can actually unlock the door easily) and I quickly grabbed my clothes to cover myself while shouting to the salesgirl to close the door. And in the midst of all this, I was also trying to reach out to grab the little cheeky's hand before he walked out of the shop!!! The interesting and embarassing part was that the fitting room is not secluded but actually faces the pathway which would have been filled with shoppers on a weekend. Thank God it's a weekday!
I am not planning anymore clothes-shopping trip with the little cheeky!

"My first Oktoberfest....."
"....but I did not get to drink bear. I was staring at the foamy beer which Mummy & Daddy swallowed into their tummies. I really wonder how beer tastes like!"
We went to Oktoberfest at Swiss Club today. For the benefit of my readers, Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival held each year in Munich, Germany, running from late September to early October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year, and is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.

Joshua @ 1 year old
Walk, walk, walk.......that's his favourite activity at the moment. Previously he was more interested in crawling but of late, he has been walking a lot.....just like a drunkard with his body swaying sideways and arms stretched out to balance himself.
He can also point to his nose and ears when prompted. And i think he loves waterfalls and water fountains. Whenever we walk past the waterfall and fountain at the lobby of our apartment or at the shopping malls, he would point towards it.
We have been bringing him to the playground since he can now walk. His current favourite is the slide. And no, he does not like to slide down. He likes to climb up instead.
Added more "words" to his vocabulary. But we still do not know what he is saying, it's all baby language =).
