...................and now followed by Joshua's mummy. I really pray and hope that Joshua is spared. Have been diligently feeding him Vitamin C and spraying the house with disinfectant. Today, I had to rush to the toilet more than 10 times, even though I took diarrhoea medicine. Felt so so weak, even weaker after my 2 hours plus labour with Joshie. Gosh! At least after I gave birth to him, I only felt pain down-under. But now, I am so weak till I am dragging my feet just walking from the living room to the bedroom. Thank God the hubs is at home to tend to Joshie's needs. Ok, what hit us? Tummy flu.............as diagnosed by the GP this afternoon! Gave me antibiotics, diarrhoea medicine and some satchets meant for detoxification.
I'll leave you with a picture of my cheeky son at his table. We bought the table from IKEA after moving into our new place and the little boy really loves sitting at the table. Sometimes he would bring his bowl of biscuits/fruits to the table and sit there and munch.

Playing dress-up
He put daddy's singlet over his head and also draped the string that I use to bind up the gym mat across his neck. Walked up and down, and was very pleased with himself. Even stopped to let me take a few shots of him. A few days after this picture was taken, he put my panty over his head too.......so cheeky!
He's really a handful these days. Mess up the house and play with whatever he likes. Even took a pen and scribbled on my pillowcase!!!! Besides that, he is also getting very picky with his food. Don't want to eat proper meals even though I have added soya sauce to his food. Only wants to eat fruits, bread and biscuits. Sometimes, I get really discouraged when he doesn't eat the food that I cook. Hmnn, really have to look for new recipes for this fussy pot.

My 18 month old helper
He's my little helper and his "skills" are improving. Hehe, look at the way he mops the floor........
Whenever he spills water on the floor, he'd say "Oh no, wet!" and then run to the kitchen to get the cloth to wipe. Sometimes, when the door to the laundry area is open, he'd get the mop.
At 18 months, he understands instructions pretty well. He can throw rubbish without being asked, but sometimes I have to check the dustbin to see if he has thrown away our belongings! =P
He can also put the dirty clothes in the laundry basket and also into the washing machine.
His speech is improving too. He can say many words now: nose, mouth, ear, head, wet, drop, throw, eh-den (elephant), fish, pork, etc....I can't remember them now. And he gave me a surprise today when he managed to read the word "elephant".
Recently, he has been calling me "ma-mee" more often than before although he still seems to prefer "mama". He is also calling hubby "dar-dee" now!
He is a very determined little boy. Will persevere to get what he wants. I blogged earlier on regarding his sleeping problem. I am still in the midst of training him. It was so much easier when he was younger and not so determined! Sigh, Joshie, please sleep through the night again, ok.

Splurging on toys
On Chinese New Years Eve, the hubs and I left cheeky at home with the grandparents and went shopping at 1U. We had quite a long list of things to buy, ranging from groceries, personal necessities and toys! Haha, hubby felt that his son is quite deprived of toys. Earlier he had decided to buy the Little Tikes playhouse for him but I told him not to after finding out the price.........it costs more than RM1,500!!! Actually I was already thinking of buying him a kitchen set since he loves to play "masak-masak" so much. So we ended up buying this kitchen set from Chicco........guess how much was it? =P
Besides that, we also bought him a pair of shoes from Treehouse and a tricycle from Toys R Us. Hmnn, big hole in the pocket! Children's toys are really pricey.

Impromptu trip to Sentosa
Two weekends ago, we were supposed to bring Joshie to the indoor playground at East Coast park. However, hubby made a last minute decision to check out Sentosa. Look at Joshie and I, we were both dressed to play! Hehe, the cheeky in his onesie and I was only wearing a spaghetti-top with denim shorts.
Picture taken along the shops at Festive Walk. I checked out Victoria Secret but didn't buy anything lar!

On the way to Universal Studios.
Hubby and Joshie at the entrance to Universal Studios. It was not opened yet when we were there.
We walked around for an hour before heading to Hard Rock Hotel for buffet dinner. Joshie also had his fair share of the buffet........ate some noodles, waffles and fruits in addition to his homecooked dinner.
No longer an independent sleeper
Since 2 weeks ago, he no longer goes to bed on his own but he wants mummy and daddy in the room with him. When he wakes up in the middle of the night, he will scream and cry for us too. A week ago, he climbed out of his cot to look for us in the middle of the night. Since then, he has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor as I do not want any mishaps to happen.
We are really puzzled with his sudden change in behaviour. This happened after he was down with fever. However, from past experiences when he was sick, he'd go back to his usual, independent self after he gets well. But not this time! He was sleep trained at 7 months plus and since then has been happily sleeping in his own room. We just need to put him in his cot during nap and bedtime, sing him a song and leave the room. He'd then talk/sing to himself and slowly self-soothe to sleep. So what's wrong ar? Separation anxiety starting to peak?

Cheeky gave me a shock last night
I have been getting up to pee frequently these few nights due to the extra water that I drink to beat my throat infection. Last night, I woke up to pee about 4am and while I was still sitting on the toilet bowl, I heard the sound of a door being opened and before I knew it, cheeky walked right into our room!!!! Gosh, he really gave me a shock and I "jumped" and shrieked when I saw him. Was really thankful that I pushed the single bed right next to his cot, or else he'd definitely be in pain or even injured!!!
Sigh, so how? Cannot lock him in the cot anymore. I am still quite puzzled as to how he can climb out as the cot railings actually reach right up to his chest. But this boy is really amazing lar. Just several hours ago, he climbed out of his high chair when he was still strapped at the shoulder and the waist. He is one very persistent boy and will never give up when he puts his mind on something. Inherited this attribute from his daddy!
So today, I have been training him to sleep on a single bed. The legs can be folded so the mattress is now on the floor. He protested a bit but went to sleep eventually. Looks like we can dismantle and keep the baby cot in the store room!
Here's a picture of my sleeping cheeky.

Random pictures of my cheeky boy
Climbed onto the chair, opened the Ziplock container and "attacked" his pumpkin seeds. Poured all onto the table, as you can see.

My sick boy
On Monday, he woke up from his afternoon nap with a fever. Temperature was hovering at 38C plus for the rest of the evening. I checked his medicine box and realized that his suppository wasn't there. Must have left it in KL during our recent CNY trip. No choice but to force him to take the medicine in liquid form. Of course he protested and spat out quite a lot. That was at 5pm. Called my dear friend, Elke to ask if she has suppository but she doesn't. She advised me to mix it into his milk. Since there's no other way, I followed her advice and mixed it into his bedtime milk which he had at 8ish pm.
The next day, his temperature was between 38-39C even though I diligently fed him water and medicine. Sponged him too but he wailed his lungs out. Decided to bring him to see his paed. He had no runny nose, but his throat was a tad red. Anyway, the doctor wanted to test for influenza. "To be on the safe side, although I don't think it's influenza." he said. Thank God the test was negative. Doctor then advised me to observe him for the next 3 days. He said it could be just a bad viral infection but told me that it could possibly be false measles (Roseola) or urinary tract infection.
Long story cut short, his temperature did not go down. On Tuesday night, he hardly slept. Kept on waking up every hour, from 10ish pm till 5ish am. He cried as though he was in pain. I was kinda scared seeing him like that. He has never been like that before, even when he had acute gastroentritis seven months ago. Moreover, hubby was away on business. Decided to bring him to KK Hospital. So I packed some clothes, his diaper, milk and called a cab.
We arrived before 6am. Saw the doctor half an hour later. This time, doctor said he has ulcer in his throat and she checked his hands and feet for blisters to rule out hand-foot and mouth disease (HFMD). She then proceeded to have his urine examined. Since he can't pee when asked to, the nurse had to attach a urine bag. I was told to check the bag every 10 minutes for urine. The time then was 6:40am. He dozed off in my arms aroung 7:10am for about half an hour. After his nap, he was up and about, roaming his "new territory". Except for the occassional crankiness, he seemed active as compared to the other kids there. Walked to the toilets, down to the pharmacy and we also went up to the hospital mall to get a bottle of water. He even went and knock on the doctor's room and ran away. Now, who taught him that?
A picture of cheeky, dozing off in mummy's arms.
Well, he finally peed at about 8:40am, that's like 2 hours later, even though I kept on feeding him water. Doctor then confirmed that there's no UTI and asked me to monitor for HFMD.
He got better after our hospital trip! Temperatured dropped to near normal and he was not feverish anymore the next day. He wasn't eating much from Monday evening till Thursday but today, his appetite is returning. He ate half a bowl of porridge for dinner; his usual is 1 full rice-bowl! But he is still extremely clingy and manja to me. Why ar? Still not well or he loved the extra attention that mummy showered on him when he was sick?

Experts, I need your advice!!!
Last Saturday, hubby and I went to Ikea to get a round table and 2 chairs for Joshie. The very next day, there were black stains at the edge of the table. Don't know if you can see the stain, but it's on the right hand edge. (If you were to imagine it as a clock face, it's approximately where the figures 2 to 4 are supposed to be). Whose fault was it? Yours truly =( I gave Joshie some crayons and a few pieces of white paper to scribble on. As I wanted to protect the table top, I put a piece of newspaper underneath the white papers. Silly me did not think that the lead from the newspaper would be transferred to the table. I used some detergent and a brush but still, the black marks are there. So how? Please tell me how to get rid of the marks............tqvm in advance.
Second problem. Cheeky took a pen and scribbled on our white dining chair! Yeah, yeah I know it was a HUGE mistake to buy white furniture especially when you have a child at home. Used some dishwashing detergent but still, the ink marks did not go off. So what should I do now?? W

Cheeky or not you say?
I was feeding him breakfast last week when he started to fuss. As usual, I looked for something on the table that can keep him occupied while eating. Gave him tupperwares, keys and coasters but he wasn't interested. He kept on pointing towards my pink hair band and so I gave it to him.
See how he wears mummy's hair band. I tried pushing the band up but he didn't allow. He wanted it to be worn horizontally across his chubby face!

Another milestone =)
That's Joshie's masterpiece! =) I think he started stacking blocks when he was about 15 months old. But it was always 2-3 blocks and then the whole thing would come tumbling down. With determination, he improved and a couple of weeks ago, I noticed this on the floor when I was clearing his toys. 10 blocks in total! I took a picture and also left his masterpiece untouched for hubby to see.
In terms of speech, he is also developing well. He likes to imitate what we say and has added a lot of words to his vocabulary! His favourite is "no" and he would use it very often, especially when he refuses to cooperate with us!
Currently, he is very cranky as he is teething. I can't really check which teeth are coming out as he refuses to open his mouth to show me. Can't even clean his teeth! But I have a feeling that there are at least 2-3 teeth sprouting out at the same time, molars included. He wants mummy most of the time even though "ah ma" and "kakak" are currently down in Singapore as well cause we have just shifted house. I have to carry my 13kg boy most of the time, even when I cook. That's why I have been busy and have not been blogging and blog-hopping. Busy, tired and hot! =( But I should not complain. Should be thankful and grateful that God has blessed me with a healthy and active child. I was moved to tears when I read the story of Layla Grace who is dying from cancer. I really can't imagine what her parents are going through now. So each time your child drives you up the wall, do take a deep breath in and be happy and grateful that you have a healthy child.
